L4GG is seeking a dynamic and experienced part-time (approx. 20 hrs/week) Training and Events Manager to organize and execute virtual trainings for attorneys, legal advocates, and our client communities. The person who succeeds in this role will have experience producing virtual training and community building programs, social media expertise, the ability to quickly learn and manage digital tools, and an aptitude for working well in start-up environments. 

The Trainings and Events Manager has three primary areas of responsibility:

  • Produce virtual educational training events to support L4GG’s state-based program seeking to help eligible public and nonprofit entities tap into federal tax incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), in particular, Elective Pay. (The contract is not yet public so we cannot announce which state, but it follows the Pacific Time Zone).

Specific key responsibilities under this focus include:

  1. Produce a training program for eligible entities, including municipalities, school districts, nonprofits, tribal governments, and more, on how to utilize the Elective Pay provision of the IRA to help bring new clean energy projects online.
  2. Collaborate with L4GG’s Climate Change and Environmental Justice team, our subject matter experts, to leverage existing L4GG resources to create engaging and informative content for training sessions.
  3. Manage the logistics of virtual events, including scheduling, registration, and technical support.
  4. Support the Pro Bono Team and the Climate Change and Environmental Justice team on producing virtual trainings for expert low bono and pro bono attorney volunteers in this program.
  • Produce virtual events, including trainings and community-building events such as book talks, in support of L4GG’s mission to mobilize the legal community to create change on issues of human and civil rights. L4GG regularly produces community events and trainings for its community on the issues we work on, including but not limited to: immigration, climate change and environmental justice, reproductive rights and health law, and other civil and racial justice issues.

Specific key responsibilities under this focus include: 

  1. Plan, coordinate, and execute virtual training sessions and events for attorneys and legal advocates throughout the L4GG community.
  2. Collaborate with subject matter experts to create engaging and informative content for training sessions.
  3. Manage the logistics of virtual events, including scheduling, registration, automations, and technical support.
  4. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and events, and make improvements as needed.
  5. Work with the Communications Team to assist in the promotion and marketing of trainings and events to maximize participation and impact.
  6. Manage an organization-wide events calendar of events, ensuring at least 1 external events per month.
  • Help L4GG become an accredited provider of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits. Over time, we would like to build up the ability to provide CLEs in as many jurisdictions as possible, starting with a few key priority states.

Specific key responsibilities under this focus include:

  1. Research state requirements and L4GG past event attendance to help prioritize which states to focus on.
  2. Produce a plan for how to, over time, build up accredited provider ability. 
  3. Prepare necessary documentation.
  4. Produce CLEs as described in Focus Area 2. 
  5. Submit relevant applications and any ongoing compliance materials.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in organizing and managing virtual training events.
  • Strong understanding of the legal profession and familiarity with human and civil rights issues.
  • Knowledge of the direct pay provision of the Inflation Reduction Act is a plus.
  • Experience with Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs and accreditation processes is highly desirable.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to marshal resources and information from diverse staff spanning departments and geographies.
  • Access to a quiet workspace (home office or other space) with high-speed internet and the ability to take calls and/or video conferences during work hours. 
  • Proficiency in using virtual event platforms and other relevant technology; exceptional technology comfort and competence including willingness to embrace new tools and self-train using provided resources as needed
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for social justice and commitment to the mission of Lawyers for Good Government
  • Experience with any or all of the following digital tools a plus: Airtable, Asana, Slack, Groove, Zoom, Google Drive, Google Docs, Squarespace, Zapier, and Apple computers
