Public Affairs Specialist

Key Role:

Provide public affairs and strategic communications support for a DoD combatant command, developing and implementing a variety of deliverables including articles, public affairs guidance, talking points, photos, related materials, fact sheets, briefing materials, the client’s webpages, and draft press releases. Work independently on deliverables to the client and apply public affairs knowledge to drive products to completion. Support external media engagement efforts for leadership and write and edit articles and social media posts on the client's operations, activities, and investments for distribution on client social media sites. Write messages to the workforce on behalf of client leadership, edit executive communications products, and write and develop content for the internal websites. Manage long-term and short-term deadlines in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, specifically to coordinate public affairs position and recommendation on client support for conferences, media events, and other engagements. Assist with planning, managing, and coordinating agency engagements and provide onsite management of the event to include scheduling, promoting, set up, and day of event management. Provide support for media engagements and developing talking points, provide content management support for intranet and internet sites.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a DoD public affairs specialist

  • 5+ years of experience in military public affairs

  • Knowledge of oral, written, social, and visual communications concepts, principles, policies, practices, methods, applications, techniques, standards, and trends

  • Ability to photograph, write, edit, and prepare news releases, social media posts, and programs for press, radio, and television, including the organization and layout of publications used in the public affairs program, ensuring conformance to client and government guidelines

  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam

  • HS diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to pay strict attention to detail

  • Possession of excellent organizational skills

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
