The Associated Press seeks an Internal Communications Manager to join its corporate communications team based in its global headquarters in New York, NY.

The Internal Communications Manager will play a key role in executing internal communications strategy and priorities, including executive communications. They will also be responsible for the development of digital content for AP’s communications channels, including editing and producing video content, and be a leader in company events.

The successful candidate will understand and develop robust communication plans around key company initiatives and will be a leader in designing and developing company town halls and other forums to connect colleagues spread across 250 locations in 100 countries. Working closely with the Vice President of Corporate Communications, they will develop a communications strategy for executives and strategic projects and execute on those plans.

The Internal Communications Manager must be an excellent writer and copy editor and possess a blend of production, storytelling and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of best practices for web, social media and video platforms. They will be organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter who can juggle multiple projects and prioritize accordingly. Contributing written stories and video pieces to the AP intranet, designing and contributing to internal newsletters and other communications will also be required.

The Internal Communications Manager will understand the AP brand and design elements and conceptualize, produce, film and edit video and digital content that supports company initiatives on AP’s digital platforms, including The Definitive Source corporate blog, ap.org and the intranet. Being well-versed in collaborating with colleagues in other departments, including editorial, media relations, marketing, technology, HR and others is a must.

Reports to the Vice President of Corporate Communications.

Qualifications:
Excellent written and oral communication skills

Strong working knowledge of:
Video editing
The Adobe suite, particularly Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Audition
Editing images and graphics for use online and in video
Web/digital technologies, software and applications
Sound recording and mixing
Experience working with content management systems and various publishing environments for websites and intranets
Experience managing online video channels and digital media
Deep knowledge of current social media platforms and best practices
Knowledge of coding for the web and email
Excellent design and UI skills
Familiarity with analytics tools and reporting, eg: Google Analytics, and social media tools
Self-motivated team player with excellent collaboration skills
Strong time management skills and the ability to work under deadline on multiple projects simultaneously
Communications degree or similar and 5-7 years professional experience

Authorization to work in the U.S. will be mandatory. Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English is required.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 — contingent on experience and other job-related factors. Employees are eligible to participate, according to the terms of the official plan documents, in a 401(k) plan, employer-sponsored health insurance plan, and are eligible for paid time off and holidays in accordance with AP policy.
