Job Description
Girls Who Code seeks a full-time Social Media Manager to lead strategy and execution for the organization’s social media channels, which reach over half a million followers and stakeholders. The Social Media Manager will work with the marketing and communications team and report directly to the Senior PR and Communications Manager.
Responsible for positioning Girls Who Code as a thought leader on its social channels, the Social Media Manager will oversee audience growth and engagement, content planning, production, and posting to achieve Girls Who Code social media goals. The Social Media Manager has experience managing and growing social media platforms for a fast-growing brand.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has excellent organizational skills, a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a passion for our mission to close the gender gap in technology fields through a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a long-term vision, goals, and strategies to grow Girls Who Code and its CEO as a thought leader on social media
Maintain a social media editorial calendar for Girls Who Code and its CEO; copy-write, edit, design, and post content;
Implement online advertising strategies for social media platforms
Track key metrics to monitor the success of online engagement strategies
Identify high-impact opportunities to increase the visibility of our programs, alumni, partners, and spokespeople
Guide and advise staff across the organization on effective and engaging opportunities to maximize visibility for the organization’s work
Support the execution of a social media influencer engagement program
Launch Girls Who Code digital presence on new social platforms; monitor trends and emerging practices, and evaluate and recommend new platforms for adoption
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this position has:
3-5 years of experience managing social media for a brand
Demonstrated expertise in managing professional social media profiles on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Experience launching an organization’s presence on emerging platforms like TikTok is a plus
Basic experience with Photoshop, InDesign, SparkPost or other design platforms
A proven track record running successful social media campaigns
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines required
Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, organization, and attention to detail
Desire to learn and grow as part of a fast-growing organization; team player with a flexible, creative, and analytical approach to problem-solving
