Political Organizer


Position Description: Political Canvasser


Political canvassers are responsible for directly communicating with voters door-to-door in critical campaigns for Democratic candidates for the Oregon State Legislature.


Part-Time hourly position

Canvassers set their own flexible schedules each week within certain parameters, up to 25 hours per week

Compensation: $30 per hour


Required Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail and ability to memorize short pieces of text;
  • Great verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work outdoors, going door-to-door for between two and six hours at a time
  • Ability to spend several hours at a time going door-to-door while carrying a bag of campaign literature, campaign materials, and necessary personal items such as a water bottle;
  • Ability to be professional and tactful with the public and coworkers;
  • Ability to work effectively and tactfully with the public;
  • While having a car and valid driver’s license is not a requirement, canvassers will be expected to get to their canvassing area on their own for each shift
  • Commitment to electing Democrats to the Oregon Legislature


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in person with the public, whether through retail, customer service, food service, or other similar positions
  • Previous experience with physical labor, moving around for several hours at a time carrying lightweight items
  • Some familiarity with using messaging apps on a modern smartphone


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Communicating directly with voters through door-to-door canvassing
  • Communicating regularly through messaging apps with team leadership
  • Thoroughly and carefully notating data in a campaign database through an app on a modern smartphone
