Green Guerillas has been helping people cultivate community gardens, sustain grassroots groups, grow food, engage youth, and address issues critical to the future of food justice and urban agriculture for 50 years.
We are seeking a resilient and reliable Youth Program Coordinator to join our team on a part-time (20-25 hours per week), year-round basis. The successful candidate will develop educational materials, lead workshops, and coordinate initiatives involving youth interns. This role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, primarily on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit,hire and train youth interns.
- Develop and implement curriculum for youth internship programs.
- Manage and supervise youth interns, including scheduling and timesheet review.
- Lead and coordinate workshops and outreach/tabling initiatives.
- Spearhead networking opportunities for youth interns and collaborate with various organizations.
- Purchase supplies and materials for the youth internship programs.
- Administer, review and assess program feedback and evaluation forms
- Organize and lead youth program trips and team bonding activities.
- Support the Director of Programs & Advocacy at organization events.
- Attend in person work days alongside youth interns.
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and supervise youth.
- Experience organizing events and workshops.
- Demonstrated efficiency in time management and project completion.
- Minimum of two years of relevant field experience or education in urban gardening or horticulture.
- Ability to lead effectively and collaborate with diverse community groups.
- Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Qualities:
- Familiarity with urban agriculture and food justice principles.
- Experience in community work and food advocacy.
- Experience working with community gardeners.
- Proficiency in the use of Google docs, Google sheets, Airtable, Canva, Mailchimp, and various social media platforms, particularly Instagram.
- Interest in learning (including learning from mistakes made by themselves and others) and willingness to offer new ideas, ask questions and raise concerns
- Knowledge of Spanish or Bangla is a plus, but not required.
Working Schedule:
- Spring & Fall: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, in all weather conditions.
- Summer : Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, in all weather conditions.
Timeline:
