Job Description


Senator Peter Welch (D-VT), a member of the Judiciary Committee, seeks a post-grad legal fellow for a one-year term to start in Fall 2025. This position is ideally suited for a 2025 law school graduate. The legal fellow serves on the legislative team that manages the Judiciary and Rules Committees portfolios for Senator Welch. The legal fellow will be responsible for advising staff on nominations and policy work, including vetting nominees, drafting legislation, conducting legal and policy research, and composing memoranda on a variety of subjects. They may also collaborate with staff members on issues and matters outside the jurisdiction of the Judiciary and Rules Committees, given the interests of the fellow and the needs of the office.

This position is based in Washington, D.C. The legal fellow must have a JD from an accredited program at the beginning of their fellowship. Fellow applicants must have the ability to secure fellowship funding from their law school or another appropriate source. The office is flexible on start and end date for the right candidate.
