SUMMARY
JCC Maccabi® is a signature program of JCC Association of North America. Established in 1982, the JCC Maccabi Games have brought more than 140,000 Jewish teens and more than 500,000 host families, volunteers, and spectators together annually for a week of Olympic style events in host communities throughout North America. The program connects teens, JCCs, and communities across North America and around the world, providing opportunities for participants to explore their Jewish identities; develop lasting memories, friendships, and connections; and make a difference in the Jewish world of today and of the future.
Currently, JCC Maccabi is implementing a dynamic new strategy to significantly expand its reach and deepen its impact over the next five years. The strategy’s components include a diversified and expanded program portfolio, greater fundraising achievement, and alliances with partners who can create engagement opportunities beyond the North American summer Games. At the heart of this strategy is a plan to introduce The JCC Maccabi® Quadrennial Games in Israel, which, in partnership with RootOne, will bring 1,000 teens to Israel in 2023, complementing an array of exciting and new programmatic initiatives.
JCC Association seeks an enthusiastic and dynamic professional to serve as program manager on the JCC Maccabi team. Under the supervision of the program director, the incumbent in this full-time position provides high level administrative, operational, programmatic, and organizational support to the JCC Maccabi program.
Successful candidates are dedicated and competent professionals; possess strong verbal and written communication skills; are highly organized, detail oriented, hardworking, and capable of tackling multiple projects simultaneously; Candidates should be comfortable in customer/stakeholder-facing roles, enjoy providing behind-the-scenes support, and performing digital and data management work. They must work well independently and thrive as a committed member of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Support
· Plays an integral role on the team that works to ensure the success of each JCC Maccabi delegation (group of participants who represent a specific JCC) by consulting with delegation representatives worldwide and designing, developing, and delivering trainings, webinars, and supporting resources for delegation heads (DHs) and coaches.
· With support from the program director, builds a continental delegation (the JTeam) by recruiting or re-engaging athletes, coaches, and volunteers and leading all associated operational and programmatic efforts
· Oversees and manages logistics related to registration; travel; uniforms and swag; and sports-specific positions
· Works with the engagement and educational manager to ensure that all RootOne grant compliance requirements are met in a timely manner
· Supports program director in developing and stewarding organizational collaborations and partnerships
· Under the direction of the program director, develops new programmatic initiatives (i.e., Jr. Maccabi, alumni engagement, year-round programming, and alumni engagement)
· Develops and delivers program survey/evaluation strategy and implementation
Administrative and Operational Support
· Develops resources for the JCC Resource Center and delegation toolkit
· Supports DH and coach training
· Works with program director to cultivate new strategies for efficient administration and program support
· Manages program supply procurement, including research, pricing, ordering, inventorying, and shipping program supplies (medals, credentials, banners, swag, etc.) to events
· Assists with other duties as assigned
· Coordinates travel to and from the Games
At the JCC Maccabi Games
· Ensures smooth operation of the JTeam by interacting and communicating with the host community, parents, coaches, and athletes
· Ensure a safe and positive experience for all JTeam athletes and coaches.
· Provides on-the-ground support to host community, DHs, and JCC Maccabi staff team
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· College graduate
· At least two years of professional experience preferred
· Involvement with nonprofits and/or the North American Jewish community. Experience with JCC Maccabi and/or the JCC Movement is a plus
PREFERRED SKILLS
· Fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication skills
· Outstanding interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with eagle-eyed attention to detail
· Flexible, detail oriented, organized, able to manage multiple, fast-paced projects simultaneously
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Experience with CRMs/databases, survey software, social media platforms, and basic website design tools
· Ability to travel 15-20% of the time
· Entrepreneurial spirit, including a make-it-happen attitude and approach
· High degree of maturity, adaptability, and initiative
· Sports minded and service focused, with a demonstrated passion for the mission of JCC Maccabi and JCC Association
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
· This position is based in New York City with the expectation of a combination of office and remote work
- Limited travel required from September-June
- Extensive travel required during the summer (July-August)
· Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without holding a visa or sponsorship is required
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
JCC Association offers a competitive salary and benefits package including:
· Salary range of $55,000- $65,000
