Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations, Presidential Protective Division will allow you to play an integral role in providing both protective and operational security for the United States Secret Service. Duties
The selectee will serve as a Supervisory Special Officer in the Special Services Division. Typical work assignments include:
Managing protective assignments, facility shift schedules and the daily work activities for protective and operational security personnel; and communicating with other Secret Service officials regarding operational security procedures.
Advising employees on procedures, policies, directives, etc; performing enhanced security measures; and performing protective support duties.
Inspecting security posts and security equipment assigned to the Division to ensure they are functioning properly and being utilized effectively to accomplish protection and security initiatives.
Communicating highly technical information pertaining to protective assignments, methods, or activities to operational security personnel and the general public in order to gather information concerning incidents, accidents, and suspicious packages.

Qualifications
GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $68,666.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GL-10 level performing duties such as: directing the activities of Special Officers assigned to a wide range of protective support and security functions; providing on-the-job-training and scheduling formal training; managing employee work assignments and shift schedules; and reviewing driving assignments.
Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered qualified for the position:
Applicant must possess a current valid driver’s license. Please indicate license number, state of license, and expiration date.
Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.
Qualifications Must Be Met: The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Conditions of Employment If selected for this position, you will be required to:
Maintain a top secret clearance.
Random drug testing while you occupy the position.
Submit to a polygraph examination prior to your appointment.
Possess a valid state motor vehicle operator's license upon appointment and maintain a valid license while you occupy the position.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside.
In addition, all applicants who are not currently employed in the law enforcement provision of FERS or the Civil Service Retirement System must be less than 40 years of age at the time of entrance on duty. (Unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special civil service retirement provision, including early or mandatory retirement or are a veteran).
Complete a pre-employment medical examination (including vision, hearing, cardiovascular and mobility of extremities) by an authorized Government physician and be determined physically fit to perform strenuous and physically demanding duties. You will be required to undergo regular physical examinations and to maintain a level of physical fitness in accordance with the standards and policies of this agency.
Work involves high risk of exposure to potentially dangerous situations and hazards inherent security support functions.
Work requires long hours, shift work, frequent travel, extensive physical activity (walking, prolonged standing, bending, climbing, lifting and carrying heavy objects), and requires defending oneself and/or others against physical attack.
Successful completion of an 8 week mixed basic training course is required for this position.
NOTE: The person selected for this position may be subject to a one-year probationary period for supervisors/managers.
