The Jordan Brand Global Communications teams builds global narratives, drive influence, and lead culture by carving new spaces to invent new storytelling approaches. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for an experienced Communications Director to join our team in New York City, NY.
We develop relationships at the heart of culture, fashion, art and sport. We are hyper-connected to the communities and culture that matters most to Jordan Brand. We bring strong, strategic instincts with an ability to execute flawlessly. We are adept at taking a 360 view of storytelling to drive deeper conversations in the right places for our consumer. We are looking to you to be a strong team manager, who can motivate the team to think differently and invent new approaches. You enjoy strategy and planning with an obsession for detailed execution. WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
You will lead essential communications for Jordan Brand from one of our most important media capitals, New York City.
Reporting to the Vice President of Communications and Purpose, key responsibilities include:
Expanding Jordan Brand’s connectivity and influence through performance and lifestyle narratives.
Managing a NY-based team of two Strategic Communications Mangers, each focused on Performance and Lifestyle narratives. This will require a sharp focus on coaching and mentoring teams, ensuring high engagement, clear accountability, and strong collaboration.
Working with the Vice President of Communications and Purpose in developing creative concepts, campaigns and creative business ideas through strong research skills and creative collaboration.
Defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support strategic business goals within a presentation format.
Developing integrated narrative strategies in partnership with marketing teams to create even stronger connections between Jordan Brand and our consumer.
Inventing new storytelling approaches and using emerging platforms to start new conversations that matter most for Jordan Brand’s future.
Driving a global narrative agenda for Jordan Brand through one of our most important media capitals.
Provide communications oversight for collaborations and partnerships.
Management of the operating frameworks for all strategic partner projects.
Help maintain global brand consistency and harmonization.
Bringing Jordan Brand’s purpose to life through brand moments.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You'll be part of the Global Communications team for Jordan Brand, working closely with Brand, Geo, Entertainment Marketing, Sports Marketing, design and product teams, as well as connecting back with key partners at Nike, Inc. The success of this role will depend on your ability to look across Jordan and cultivate the best stories, strategies, and media plans for Jordan Brand.
This position reports to the Vice President, Communications and Purpose, based at the Nike NYC office in New York, NY.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, PR, English, Humanities, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, or related field.
5+ years professional experience in high profile corporate, agency, and/ or public relations roles supporting global brands with a strong preference for an emphasis on culture and sport.
2 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree.
Culturally curious and hyper connected – allows you to constantly be seeking new storytelling opportunities.
High taste level, ability to work diplomatically across large teams with a balanced understanding of the sport and luxury industries.
A natural aptitude to voraciously consume news that spans global events, contemporary and street art, youth culture, music, technology, counter-culture, fashion, sport, literary and academic invention.
Has a deep knowledge of global trends in both consumer and society spheres with a keen ability to anticipate the future of global consumer movements from influence, behavior, approach, and migration patterns.
Ability to build relationships.
Proficient with messaging and materials – particularly adept at writing, flexible in various formats.
Optimistic and able to seek sophisticated solutions.
Comfortable trying new approaches with strong professional agility.
Background and experience working in footwear and apparel industry is beneficial but not essential.
Strong awareness and understanding of the cultural relevance of Jordan Brand and a personal connection to sneaker and/or basketball culture.
Deep knowledge and awareness of New York’s cultural calendar of key events and moments.
Proficiency in a second language is beneficial.
Proficiency in all digital social media platforms a must, i.e. Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, TikTok etc.
