Press Assistant
Democratic National Committee (DNC) - Washington, DC
A press assistant is a vital part of the Democratic National Committee’s operations. Press assistants manage and execute much of the most important functions of the department. Applicants should have an exceptional eye for detail and be exceptionally motivated to go the extra mile to help elect Democrats from the school board to the Oval Office.
Responsibilities:
Tracking over a dozen press products every day, from drafting to delivery
Maintaining the DNC’s press lists
Managing the department’s interns, from hiring to day-to-day supervision
Monitoring news events throughout the day, including morning press clips
Drafting social content for the department’s Twitter feed
Logistics and projects for the department
Assist the Communications Director with administrative duties
Other duties as assigned by the Communications Director
Qualifications:
Minimum B.A in Journalism, communications, political science, public policy or related field
Experience working (internship or paid) in a large press operation or political campaign
An ability and desire to keep up with the 24-hour news cycle
Excellent written and verbal communications skills including an eagle-eye for typos and errors
Willingness to work in a fast pace environment with potential for long hours
