Title: Campaign Associate

Location: Remote


Position Overview

The Article IV Democracy team aims to improve governance and make elections fairer and more responsive to voters. They work with experts from inside and outside of government and across disciplines to support rigorous, policy-relevant research on what works, develop policies based on research and evidence, and advance meaningful policy change at the federal, state, and local levels.


We are seeking a Campaign Associate to support the campaign team across its various portfolios and help identify and analyze opportunities for high-impact reform projects in democracy. 


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support development of in-state infrastructure and human assets for qualifying and passing ballot measures to address the lack of electoral competition.
  • Support the development of proposals and feasibility studies.
  • Participate in regular weekly meetings with state partners and grantees as needed, keep running notes of discussion and deliverables.
  • Provide research and analysis of public policy related to democracy issues.
  • Provide data analysis of elections and voters.
  • Compile statistical data and informational materials from a wide range of sources and synthesize complex information into concise and compelling reports, charts, graphics, and fact sheets.
  • Create data visualizations and presentations that effectively communicate research/​analysis findings, as well as the team’s objectives and strategies.


Qualifications

This position requires a high degree of problem-solving and organizational skills, and an ability to develop and implement strategies with measurable results that support organizational objectives. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as economics, sociology, political science, public policy, or other social sciences.
  • Two to three years of relevant work experience in public policy, government, or regulatory affairs. 
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills and experience presenting data and information with effective language to convey thoughts, projects, and ideas succinctly and clearly.
  • Self-starting personality, strong organizational, and project management skills.
  • Attention to detail with an understanding of how to find and fix errors and data. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Google Data Studio or Tableau
  • Experience with nonprofit CRMs like EveryAction and Action Network
  • Experience with voter data tools like VAN, Catalist, or TargetSmart


Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. This position is a 1099-independent contractor role, with a typical contract term of one year. Based on performance, the contract is open to annual renewal.
