Job Description
Mercury is a high-stakes, bipartisan public strategy firm that provides a comprehensive suite of services, including federal and state government relations, international affairs, crisis communications, digital influence, public opinion research, media strategy and execution and a bi-partisan grassroots mobilization network in all 50 states. The firm has over 130 employees and an established national and international presence with sixteen offices in the United States, London, and Mexico City. Mercury DC is looking for motivated Junior Associates with good attitudes and strong desires to learn. Junior Associates will have the opportunity to work on both international and domestic clients.
Essential Responsibilities: As a junior associate in Mercury?s D.C. office, you will be responsible for supporting government relations and public affairs professionals. Assigned duties may include: - Creating media lists - Tracking and compiling media clips - Writing media advisories, press releases - Preparing briefings on Members of Congress, Administration officials, and other elected officials - Tracking legislation and covering hearings at the national and local levels - Drafting memos and reports - Researching a wide variety of topics to support various projects and company accounts, including in real estate, education, and technology - Helping with general administrative tasks
Qualifications/Requirements: - Current undergraduate student (junior or senior), graduate student or recent graduate - Available part-time (24 hours per week) and full-time positions in semester increments. - Exceptional research, writing and copy-editing skills - Excellent attention to detail - Excellent time management skills - Proven interpersonal skills - Professional demeanor/business etiquette - Foreign language ability valued but not required (Spanish, French, Arabic, etc.)
Desired Experience: Previous government, political campaign, or media internships are desired but not mandatory. Interest in political science and/or communications is preferred. All interested, hardworking candidates are encouraged to apply.
