Job Description
The New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) Fund is hiring passionate and experienced organizers to direct the Albany field office for our statewide environmental campaign this summer to fight climate change. Canvass Directors working for NYPIRG have driven the grassroots movement to ban fracking in New York State, block new fossil fuel infrastructure, and hold climate polluters accountable for the damage they’ve caused to the planet. The position begins with a week-long training at our NYC office starting April 24, 2023, with NYPIRG Canvass Directors running seasonal offices for the 18 week summer campaign from May 1 – September 1.
About NYPIRG:
NYPIRG Fund is New York’s largest and most effective environmental and consumer advocacy organization with tens of thousands of supporters in all regions of New York State. Much of NYPIRG’s grassroots power stems from our statewide canvassing efforts. For the past 50 years, NYPIRG’s work educating and activating communities across the state has paved the way for hundreds of legislative victories, such as establishing a state superfund to make polluters pay for toxic dumping, science-based climate solutions, and establishing the bottle deposit law to increase recycling.
About NYPIRG’s Environmental Campaign:
Over five decades of work NYPIRG has been a leading voice in New York State on a wide range of environmental and energy issues. The goal of NYPIRG’s environmental protection campaign is to make New York a global leader in protecting public health from the serious threats of water and air pollution, climate change, and toxic chemical exposure.
Our Summer 2023 campaign will prioritize holding big polluters accountable for the damages they’ve caused to our environment, climate and public health, as we move towards a fossil-free future.
