Public Policy Advisor

Policy Advisor, Midwest U.S.

Tesla is seeking a Policy Advisor to join the Policy team. The assigned territory for this position will be the Midwest United States. Tesla’s Policy team supports the company’s objectives by engaging key stakeholders on legislative and regulatory issues. The Policy Advisor will be responsible for monitoring and developing the regulatory framework in Midwest states to support electric vehicle and charging infrastructure deployment, and viable energy storage and solar energy markets.

Responsibilities

Advocating on behalf of Tesla to 3rd party groups and elected officials

Coalition outreach within the sustainable transportation and energy communities

Tracking and analyzing legislation and policy proposals at the state and municipal level

Requirements

BA in relevant field or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability

MBA, MPP, JD or other advanced degree preferred

Or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability

7 years’ experience with state or federal government

Knowledge of transportation and electricity policy topics with particular focus on electric vehicles and EV charging infrastructure, ZEV, and RPS programs preferred

Must have a proven track record for policy initiatives

Must be detail-oriented and well-organized self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills

Must be able to self-manage and committed to working in a fast-paced environment
