Overview
Moyer Strategies seeks a communications manager to support the firm’s rapidly growing issue advocacy, public affairs and political campaign work. The communications manager will be responsible for executing communications strategies for a portfolio of clients. Specifically, this person will help draft client products including press releases and social media content, manage media lists and monitor news coverage for a range of issues and clients. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the ins and outs of effective communications strategies and tactics.
This position will report to the Vice President of Communications. The role is remote, but does require meeting in-person from time to time in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
- Draft communications materials, including: press releases; media advisories; op-eds; talking points; pitches; newsletters; letters-to-the-editor; memos; speeches and social media content;
- Track media coverage related to clients in national, regional, state and local markets to inform campaign strategy and identify opportunities to place stories.
- Organize, maintain and update media lists;
- Identify creative opportunities to advance client campaigns;
- Conduct research projects; and
- Other related communications tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- 1-3 years experience in communications roles, preferably on Capitol Hill or on electoral or issue advocacy campaigns;
- Must be a strong writer and communicator;
- Highly organized and attentive to detail;
- Ability to work with a group of colleagues and partners in a fast-paced work environment;
- Ability to manage multiple assignments at once and prioritize to meet deadlines;
- Team player who enjoys collaborating but is also self-motivated and can work independently;
- Comfort with working in a remote environment; and
- Familiarity with Google Suite, Slack, Zoom.
Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $44,000-$56,000. Moyer Strategies offers a generous benefits package that includes: more than 30 days of paid time off, including vacation, sick, personal days and federal holidays; health insurance; up to a 3% employer match retirement plan; professional development opportunities; and a new business bonus.
