District Special Assistant
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Providing transportation for the Member while in district;
· Planning travel and events within the district.
· Ensuring that the Member has all needed materials and items on hand throughout each district work day.
DUTIES:
On days when there aren't driving responsibilities, the Special Assistant may perform other administrative tasks as assigned including but not limited to:
· Front office reception, answering phones, receiving, and caring for constituents and guests of the office;
· Coordinating the internship program and supervising interns;
· Monitoring the order and operation of the office space and supplies; and
· Special projects as assigned.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:
· Candidates should be well-organized and timely, have access to a safe vehicle, and a good driving record, and the ability to work irregular hours during district workdays when the Member is present in district;
· Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills;
· Highly motivated, well organized, and detail-oriented;
· Performs duties with a high level of professionalism while maintaining tact and confidentiality;
· Experience supporting a team in a fast-paced environment;
· Candidates should have an ability to work under pressure, a strong commitment to public service, and an understanding of what it takes to be a part of a successful team effort;
· Candidates should have extensive knowledge and familiarity with Northern New Jersey, including its geography;
· Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of experience in an administrative role; and
· Nights and Weekends are the norm.
