Job Description
Overview:
Join an exciting and dynamic grassroots campaign for Collin Thompson, an educator and public servant running for New York City Council in District 5 (Upper East Side & Roosevelt Island). This is a competitive two-way race against an entrenched incumbent, and we’re looking for passionate, driven individuals who are eager to play a leadership role in field operations.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven environment, enjoys engaging with people from all walks of life, and is deeply committed to New York City’s future. Given that this campaign is up against an establishment opponent, success will require energy, creativity, and strategic grassroots organizing.
Collin Thompson is an outsider running to bring bold, common-sense change to city government, starting with radically increasing teachers’ pay and reinvesting in public schools. He believes in getting back to the basics of local leadership—prioritizing schools, subways, safety, sanitation, shelter, and small businesses. While career politicians have failed to deliver, Collin is ready to step up and take action to make NYC a place where all residents can thrive.
This is an unpaid internship with a flexible schedule. Interns will work closely with the candidate and campaign manager, gaining first-hand experience in the nuts and bolts of electoral politics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for campaign efforts including petitioning, phone banking, canvassing, and events.
- Foster an enthusiastic and high-energy team culture while ensuring effective coordination.
- Voter Outreach: Knock on doors, make calls, and connect with voters one-on-one to share Collin’s vision for a better NYC.
- Join us at campaign events, rallies, and community meetings to spread the word.
- Develop and implement targeted strategies to reach key voter demographics and maximize turnout.
- Build relationships with local organizations, community leaders, and advocacy groups to expand the campaign’s presence.
Qualifications:
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- A passion for local politics and a strong commitment to NYC’s future.
- Comfortable with street canvassing and direct voter engagement.
