Position Overview: PCDC seeks a full-time Summer Public Policy Graduate Intern to support our Policy team. Reporting to the Senior Policy Manager, this internship is an opportunity to gain critical knowledge of current health policy and legislative issues with an emphasis on those pertaining to primary care at the federal level and in New York State. Graduate students with an interest in public health and a strong commitment to health equity are encouraged to apply, with preference given to those pursuing degrees in public policy, public health, public administration, or a related field.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the development of advocacy materials to support primary care, including but not limited to “one pagers”, white papers or brief reports, public comments and letters, and talking points.
  • Scheduling, preparing for, and, when appropriate, attending policy meetings with stakeholders
  • Research existing and pending primary care policy at the state and federal level.
  • Tracking and disseminating summary information to PCDC staff about key policy issues and trends affecting primary care and investment at the federal and state level.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of events to draw attention to primary care policy priorities
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current graduate student
  • Background or interest in health care / public policy
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Familiarity with conducting informal research (i.e., literature reviews)
  • Highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task between assignments and deliverables.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Important Information To Note Before Applying

  • This is a full-time paid summer internship position extending for the summer months. We’re flexible with the start and end dates for this engagement: May 15th / May 30th through August 1st/ August 30th.
  • This internship will be primarily remote, but will include some optional, in-person meetings. Candidates from the New York City-metro area (NY/NJ/CT) will be given preference, but this internship could be fully remote and candidates from the following locations will also be considered: California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, and Washington, D.C.
