The Daily Wire is seeking a Legal Intern for either Spring or Summer 2024! You will have the opportunity to learn the inner-workings of a complex, fast-paced business. During this internship, you will take on projects, responsibilities, and tasks within the Legal department that will allow you to apply your education in the workplace. You will sharpen your communication skills, learn professional practices, and master time and project management.
Responsibilities
Legal Research
Conduct legal research on various topics, including researching case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents to support internal decision-making.
Document Review
Assist in reviewing and organizing legal documents such as contracts, court filings, and other relevant paperwork. Summarizing or categorizing documents for easier reference.
Drafting/Writing
Under the supervision of designated attorney(s), draft legal documents, including legal memoranda, pleadings, contracts, and other legal correspondence. Develop or contribute to the development of persuasive legal arguments, motions, answers, or briefs. May also prepare internal memoranda analyzing assigned issues.
Stakeholder Interaction
Possible interaction with internal stakeholders to gain or deliver information as directed.
Administrative Tasks/General Support
Assist with administrative duties such as maintaining legal files, managing schedules, and organizing meetings or appointments. Provide general support to the legal team, such as proofreading documents, conducting legal due diligence, or helping with other legal team efforts.
Legal Compliance
Assist in maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations, which may involve reviewing policies, contracts, procedures for legal compliance, or other duties as assigned.
Special Projects
Work on special projects or tasks relevant to the Intern’s area of interest or expertise.
Required Education & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred; pursuit of Juris Doctor in progress or recently earned.
Legal Knowledge
Basic knowledge of legal and business concepts, terminology, and processes is essential.
Research And Writing Skills
Strong research and writing skills sufficient to conduct legal research and draft legal documents, memoranda, and briefs.
Communication Skills
Effective communication, both written and verbal, sufficient to support daily interaction with attorneys, executives, and other employees.
Analytical Skills
Able to analyze complex legal issues, identify relevant precedents, and provide sound legal reasoning.
Computer Skills
Proficiency in using research databases, word processing software, and legal research tools preferred.
Track Record of Success
Demonstrated track record of success in law school and previous employment, if any.
