Position SummaryReporting to the VP for Administration and Finance with responsibilities to the Chancellor and Presidents of Roswell and Ruidoso campuses, this staff position coordinates and assists with interactions related to the Federal Legislature, New Mexico Legislature, and relevant State and Local agencies.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Duties and Responsibilities: Plan and collect data as may be required for State agency reporting.At the direction of University Administration, prepare reports that may be required by the state and federal governmentGather and correlate recommendations for capital outlayAssist with all university governance activitiesMaintain records related to all university governance activitiesInteract/communicate on a regular basis with elected and appointed local/state/federal officialsAttend any functions related to dutiesPerform other duties as assignedMinimum Job Requirements: A minimum of five years of experience directly related to the duties specified and a bachelor’s degree is required (master’s degree preferred). Administrative or executive work for a large and complex program is preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse communityKnowledge of the mission, structure and operations of a public universityKnowledge of the Federal and New Mexico Legislature and legislative processesAbility to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goalsAbility to create, compose, and edit written materials Knowledge of strategic issues and trends with current and/or potential impact on university operationsAbility to foster a cooperative work environmentPositively represent the campus’s legislative interests
