COMPANY OVERVIEW 

Pizza to the Polls is a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, founded in 2016 as a response to long lines at polling places. Our mission is to deliver free food to people who are participating in civic life, from long lines at polling places to nonpartisan events focused on voter education, registration, and turnout via our signature national On Demand program, and our regional Food Truck and Pre Order programs. 

The organization's purposes are (i) to educate individuals about America's institutions, citizens' civic duties and opportunities, and (ii) to increase turnout and ensure all people are well-informed about their civic obligations.

Role: Executive Director, full time employee

Location: Fully remote with occasional travel for events and meetings

Pizza to the Polls is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader with a passion for nonpartisan civic engagement to lead the national organization. With a deep fundraising and organizational leadership background, the Executive Director will be responsible for leading Pizza to the Polls into its next chapter: building a strategic plan, creating and managing budgets, implementing strategies to sustain and grow the funding and partnership base and hiring and managing vendors and employees. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently with oversight from the Board of Directors, have the ability to envision the bigger picture to scale or create programs and partnerships as needed, all while maintaining a fun, creative environment that is true to the roots of the organization.



Role Summary

Fundraising and Donor Management

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and goals:
  • Create and manage organizational budgets / cash flow
  • Construct customized pitch decks to potential funders and partners 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors to encourage ongoing contributions and seek out additional new opportunities for financial support.
  • Lead efforts to secure, manage and maintain major gifts from new individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Research, identify and apply for new grant opportunities with a deep understanding of non profit culture and trends.
  • Manage the application process for foundation and government grants, ensuring compliance with all reporting.
  • Track and analyze fundraising progress and key metrics.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and ensure proper acknowledgment and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee the development of fundraising campaigns via direct appeal, social media and online newsletters.
  • Manage donor communications to ensure a high level of engagement and retention


Leadership & Hiring Management

  • Building a clear strategic vision for the direction of the programs, and having the foresight to update or create new programs, as needed
  • Understanding of Pizza to the Polls’ foundational programs in order to hire and manage contractors, vendors, agencies and volunteers to oversee the On Demand, Food Truck and Pre Order initiatives with guidance from the Board of Directors
  • Anticipating the of needs of donors, partners and vendors in order to proactively problem solve
  • Oversee the social media director to ensure content adheres to organizations standards while uplifting partnerships and key electoral dates
  • Understanding of the digital media marketing landscape to manage and work alongside the social media contractor to uplift key programs and partnerships
  • Understanding of the traditional communications environment in order to manage external public relations teams and direct strategy


Administration & Compliance

  • Coordinate financial reporting and audit activities with relevant vendors
  • Work directly with outside legal representatives, as needed, ie SB202
  • Working directly in tandem with the Board President on the following:
  • Creating agendas, scheduling and managing quarterly board meetings and relevant committee meetings (fundraising, finance), as needed
  • Presenting financial status updates and relevant research 
  • Leveraging board members relationships to inform hiring, fundraising and best practices for the organization 
  • Maintaining an engaged, diverse board with a broad set of skills and communicating updates between scheduled meetings, as needed


Qualifications

  • Experience & Expertise: At least 8 years of experience in fundraising, strategies, budgeting, and team leadership with a demonstrated track record of securing major gifts, grants, and corporate partnerships.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences through a non-partisan lens.
  • Leadership: Having a creative vision for the organization that shows good judgement, simultaneously fitting our critical objectives and communicates them in an efficient and inspiring way to stakeholders, partners, funders and those participating in civic life.
  • Management: Experience vetting, hiring and managing external agencies and vendors as well and internal programmatic teams.
  • Passion: A deep belief in non-partisanship, the power of voting and eliminating barriers to make civic engagement fun and easy.
  • Technology Proficiency: Accomplished in Microsoft Office & Google Suite (with a focus on Excel and Slides), Bill.com and various social media platforms for outreach.
  • Organized and Results-Driven: Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities, notably during election cycles.


Compensation & Benefits

  • The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $144,000 with an opportunity for additional compensation based on successful fundraising during on cycle years
