Job Description
CCIA seeks an experienced government relations professional to support advocacy across its artificial intelligence, intellectual property, privacy, online trust and safety, competition, trade, telecommunications, and content moderation policy portfolios. The Deputy Government Affairs Lead will report to the Vice President, Federal Affairs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work collaboratively with CCIA’s U.S. policy teams to achieve policy goals on behalf of member companies;
- Track federal legislation across policy portfolios, with an emphasis on identifying areas of concern, relaying developments to CCIA members, and drafting written deliverables in response;
- Coordinate external advocacy and campaign efforts, including coalition building, outreach programs, and legislative initiatives in furtherance of CCIA policy objectives;
- Liaise with congressional offices, stakeholders, and CCIA members to provide information, feedback, and perspective on potential legislation; and
- Anticipate and address challenges that technology companies may face in an evolving policy landscape.
Minimum Qualifications: Three to seven years professional experience in legislative advocacy, staffing an elected principal, or working in a relevant federal affairs-based role.
The ideal candidate will also possess:
- Demonstrated understanding of technology policy, especially in relation to artificial intelligence, privacy, and child online protection policies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into simple explanations.
- Adept interpersonal, political, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritize multiple projects, often on tight deadlines.
- Juris Doctor or other graduate degree.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
