The Brigid Alliance seeks to add a Major Gift Officer to its remote team to help the organization sustain significant growth, beckoned by an increasing need for travel support among abortion seekers in the US. 

About: 

The Brigid Alliance (501c3) is a nationwide practical support organization for people who must travel long distances for abortion care. Working across the United States, we arrange and fund confidential travel, lodging, childcare, and logistical assistance, closing the gap between the need for an abortion and the ability to access one. We partner with independent and nationally affiliated clinics, abortion funds, and local and regional practical support organizations. The Brigid Alliance envisions a world where everyone has access to abortion care, uninhibited by stigma, and free of systemic or geographic barriers.

Since launching in August of 2018, The Brigid Alliance has assisted over 5,000 individuals and families from all 50 states. We are a crucial part of the reproductive health ecosystem, connecting the geographic and metaphorical dots between policy, providers, practice, and patients.

Responsibilities:

The Major Gifts Officer will be part of a remote team that reports to the Senior Major Gifts Officer under the direction of the Senior Director of External Relations. As the Major Gifts Officer, you will bolster the department's capacity, focusing on front-line fundraising and direct engagement with individual donors giving $5,000 or more annually. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a portfolio of donors and prospects who you are moving through the donor pipeline.
  • Participate in the department-wide donor and prospect review process and be a partner in maintaining an organized system.
  • ​​Develop individual donor strategies, along with materials, to engage donors in a way that integrates with organization-wide communications strategy.
  • Track interactions with donors in the database and update records as needed.
  • Support the fundraising efforts of colleagues within the External Relations team, as well as Executive and Board leadership in securing new and renewed gifts.
  • Participate in all department-wide events and campaigns, including two appeal campaigns per year. 
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly all-staff meetings and annual in-person all-staff retreat. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • ​​3-5 years of experience managing high-level donor relationships with demonstrated success in closing 4 and 5-figure gifts.
  • Experience working with a CRM database, preferably Salesforce.
  • Strong research skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and maximize opportunities and have the ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple (sometimes urgent) tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Clear communication with excellent emotional intelligence, and who can build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with staff at all levels.
  • A keen attention to detail and organization, who ensures thoroughness in all aspects of work.  
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, creative, and able to work independently and collaboratively with a team.

Work Environment

  • The Brigid Alliance is a New York-originated organization with a fully remote team across the U.S. Staff are in Eastern, Mountain, Central, and Pacific time zones.
  • Current External Relations staff are in the Eastern time zone, this position follows a Monday to Friday work schedule, keeping 9am-5pm Eastern time hours is preferred. 
  • This position will require heavy computer use. 
  • Travel is expected for in-person meetings, events, and conferences as opportunities present themselves (3-5 days at a time, up to 5 times a year)
