Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Job Description

The Outreach Team is a field firm specializing in face-to-face canvassing operations. We fuel the nation's leading organizations and groups to build community support, register voters, and impact critical elections.

We will be partnering with Forward Majority to register Democratic voters in key Congressional and state legislative districts across the monumentally important battleground of Pennsylvania this year. We know this election is going to be very close at all levels, and a key component to getting Democrats across the finish line and winning Pennsylvania will be expanding the electorate and making sure every Democratic voter has submitted an accurate, up-to-date voter registration to ensure they can successfully cast a ballot this November.

We have openings for both Lead Directors and Deputy Director positions. This campaign's primary objective is to register voters and supporters to vote within these communities, and we are specifically seeking directors with prior experience working in PA on progressive issues.

As we look ahead to future elections presidential and local, it becomes increasingly imperative to engage and activate a substantial number of new voters. Expanding civic engagement stands as a fundamental strategy for Democrats to secure success in November. Our mission is to secure Democratic victories, which are vital for addressing systemic challenges affecting the most vulnerable communities in our nation. Join us in this critical endeavor.

Directors will recruit, train, and manage a team of local canvassers to assist citizens in successfully and safely completing their voter registration applications. In addition to providing PPE and extensive health and safety training, we will follow the canvassing and voter registration protocols to ensure our safety and the safety of our communities.

We are hiring immediately. This position will run through October 2024 with potential opportunities to extend.

Locations: Harrisburg, Erie, Lehigh/Allentown, Scranton, Pittsburgh, Stroudsburg, Reading, Pottstown & State College. Preference for in-state candidates, short-term travel may be required.

Canvass Management Responsibilities:

  • Work with our recruitment team to find and hire members of the community to work as canvassers and assist people in carefully and correctly filling out the campaign goals.
  • Build a database of successful locations for registering voters that focuses on engaging Democrats and underrepresented communities. Coordinate canvassing sites for your staff, and work with partner groups to avoid overlapping efforts in the field.
  • Implement safety protocols, including ensuring adequate PPE for all staff and compliance with daily health and safety guidelines
  • Go out in the field yourself several days per week to canvass, train staff, and help drive office goals by registering voters
  • Administrative duties, including working with the HR Director on payroll, onboarding and offboarding staff, and compliance.

Qualifications:

Must have

  • Leadership experience, ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team.
  • Eagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week.
  • Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement.
  • Track record of equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends.

Salary: The salary range for this position is $4,800 - $5,800 per month. We offer a generous benefits package, including paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and hands-on training. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement and bonuses.
