Summary

This position is a Climate Change Coordinator, GS- 0401-14 working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service R9-Natural Resources Program Center in one of the following locations.

Locations:

Denver, CO

Fort Collins, CO

Falls Church, VA.


Duties

As a Climate Change Coordinator your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:


Serves as national principal coordinator for climate change science within the NWRS to bring together planners, managers and scientists and those of other agencies and organizations, to develop collaborative science and management ventures and build support for the needs, interests, and programs of the NWRS as they relate to meeting its conservation mission in the face of climate change.

Represents the NWRS leadership and displays leadership with respect to climate change science and policy within the larger conservation community, including, but not limited to Cooperative Ecosystems Studies Units, National Science Foundation, universities, state fish and game departments, research boards, professional scientific societies, and other scientific and conservation organizations.

Reviews national programmatic and regional climate change strategic plans, operational plans and proposed decisions and policies, when requested by the NWRS leadership, to ensure they are consistent with national science policy and direction.

Develops and facilitates the delivery of communication, outreach, and educational materials relating to climate change science.

Coordinates closely with the NWRS leadership and the Service climate change policy and science staff on climate change science budget formulation and allocation, and on science performance evaluation, and on resolving policy and management issues that arise from implementation of the NWRS' climate change science programs and policies.
