Position: Human Resources Generalist

Employment Type: Full-Time, Salaried, 40 hours/week

Salary Range: $50,000-65,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Human Resources (75%): Oversee employee records, serve as the primary point of contact for HR queries, manage HR documentation, coordinate hiring processes, and ensure compliance with employment laws. Support employee onboarding/offboarding and facilitate required trainings and certifications.
  • Administration (25%): Manage internal communications, calendar scheduling, document handling, and assist with financial audits. Organize staff activities and maintain office supplies.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The HR Generalist is responsible for overseeing all day to day operations of human resources & administrative activities at King Street Center. This position will work together with Leadership to ensure the organization is approaching HR with a people-first, equity lens that is compliant with all state and federal employment laws and regulations. They will ensure files and systems related to HR are organized and streamlined and that employees are clear about policies, procedures, and benefits as well as support the organization from an administrative perspective.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

HR Responsibilities (75%):

  • Maintaining accurate employee records, including staff files, HRIS data and other HR documentation
  • First point of contact for employees for questions concerning benefits and perks, retirement plans, time tracking, time off and other HR policies and procedures
  • Generate reports related to grant funding, ensuring compliance with grant requirements
  • Responsible for coordinating all HR related insurance claims such as disability, workers compensation, etc
  • Ensuring compliance with any local, state, and federal laws and regulations, managing risk and leading any necessary updates to HR records and policies to ensure they are accurate and compliant.
  • Ensures clear communication of organization wide HR information such as payroll information, introducing new employees, or other HR announcements
  • Hiring responsibilities to include: coordinating job postings, sourcing candidates, screening resumes, administrative work associated with hiring process such as scheduling interviews with hiring team, conducting reference and background checks
  • Manage employee onboarding/offboarding process
  • Complying with all relevant laws regarding reporting and records retention
  • Oversee employee required trainings and certifications from record keeping to scheduling of organization wide trainings and certifications (includes things such as First Aid, CPR, emergency response, mandated reporter, fingerprinting, background checks, MVRs, and other licensing required trainings)
  • Together with the AD of Ops, lead the organization through a conversation from paper to digital employee records within payroll software and ensure all managers are trained adequately on the software as needed

Administrative Responsibilities (25%):

  • Mail & document management: checking, opening and sorting mail; coding & filing invoices; bank statements and other documents
  • Financial & audit tasks: gathering materials for audits, managing credit card statements and handling other financial documentation
  • Internal communications & calendar management: Managing HR related internal communications and maintaining the organization calendar
  • Office administration: Performing administrative work such as creating new name tags for kids and staff, organizing staff day activities (ordering food, booking locations, coordinating materials), and purchasing office supplies.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITES

  • Represent King Street Center at community events and meetings, such as job fairs and networking events

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge and experience with HR policies/procedures and both federal and state employment laws/regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and experience with at least one payroll/HRIS system
  • Self-starter with excellent initiative and follow-through.
  • Ability to build rapport and work effectively with stakeholders across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant HR experience required
  • Experience with HRIS / payroll systems
  • Proven experience in HR, preferably in a nonprofit or community organization setting
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices in areas including but not limited to: payroll, benefits, hiring, onboarding, offboarding, policy creation and management

Full-Time Employee Benefits include:
