Accounting Assistant - Internal Finance - Global Impact

About You

You’re an experienced detail-oriented Accounting Assistant, excited to join our combined Nonprofit and corporate finance team (Global Impact (nonprofit 501c3), Geneva Global (for profit), Capital for Good (nonprofit 501c3), Global Impact Social Welfare Fund (nonprofit 501c4)). You’ll be responsible for supporting the accounting department with various administrative and financial tasks. You have strong analytical skills, proficiency with accounting software, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and maintain workflow calendars, schedule meetings, and take detailed meeting notes to ensure efficient operations within the department.
  • Maintain a comprehensive filing system within the accounting software for financial information, records, and documents, ensuring easy accessibility and compliance with records retention policies.
  • Research, update, and maintain accounting policies to ensure they are current and aligned with industry standards and organizational requirements.
  • Handle the cutting, mailing, logging, and depositing of checks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial transactions.
  • Initiate international wires for the Employee Assistance Program and investigate any returned wires to ensure successful completion.
  • Follow-up with appropriate staff on pending approvals and missing receipts for corporate cards and out-of-pocket expenses, ensuring timely reconciliation and compliance.
  • Maintain and organize correspondence within the department’s email inbox, ensuring prompt responses and proper documentation.
  • Format financial reports for executives and board packets, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Assist with annual audits and tax returns by providing necessary documentation, information, and support to auditors and tax professionals.
  • Assist with additional reports and requests as needed, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to evolving departmental needs.

Qualifying for this role means you have a High School diploma with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience, OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with up to 1 year of experience in a support or administrative position supporting financial or fundraising functions. You are proficient in Microsoft Office 365 tools, with advanced Excel skills and familiarity with software systems such as ANDAR, Bill.com, and QuickBooks. You have strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills, with a keen mindfulness. As an initiative-taker, you can work with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with various teams.

Working at Global Impact

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States for more than one year. Visa sponsorship is not available. This is a full-time position with the potential to be fully remote – must be able to work majority of hours in the eastern or central time zone.

The salary range is $45,000. – $50,000., depending on the experience you bring. On top of the competitive salary that we are offering, you’ll receive 16 paid holidays and 25 paid days off.
