The Team You’ll Work With

The Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) develops policies and

programs, provides training and prevention education, conducts research and evaluations, performs

community outreach, and operates the New York City Family Justice Centers and community-based

programs. We collaborate with City agencies and community stakeholders to ensure access to

inclusive services for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence (GBV). GBV can include

intimate partner and family violence, elder abuse, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking.

The Problems You’ll Solve

The Senior Advisor, with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, will report directly to

the Commissioner and will develop and support new initiatives and programs to meet the mission of

ENDGBV.

Duties of the Senior Advisor will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide strategic direction to the Commissioner and the Executive team to support ENDGBV’s

portfolio of work, with a focus on prevention and responses to family violence, sexual violence,

human trafficking, and services for crime victims.



  • Identify new actionable program initiatives based on best, promising, or emerging practices

in partnership with experts, thought leaders, and governmental and non-governmental

agencies.

  • Directly develop and manage priority projects, new initiatives, and programs by planning,

designing, and monitoring implementation.

  • Work collaboratively across ENDGBV teams to provide programmatic expertise related to

planning, designing, implementing, and monitoring priority projects, new initiatives, and

programs.

  • Regularly coordinate and facilitate working groups or meetings with diverse stakeholders

(both internal and external) to discuss new and innovative responses to domestic and

gender-based violence, best practices, new areas of programming, or

assessment/evaluation results.

  • Manage ENDGBV’s Advisory Council, coordinating quarterly meetings and ensuring

communication between community-based organizations addressing domestic and gender-

based violence and relevant city agencies.

  • Coordinate regularly with state and federal agencies relevant to ENDGBV’s portfolio to drive

implementation of initiatives, meet project goals and timelines, and review agency and

interagency work products.

  • Strengthen relationships with community stakeholders and channels of communication with

community members and survivors to inform and enhance the work of ENDGBV.

  • Support or lead other special projects and duties, assigned.

About You

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school; An advanced degree in public
administration, law, social work, education, political science, criminal justice, or health policy is
preferred.
  • You have 5+ years’ experience with NYC or other government agencies and a background in

implementing programs and initiatives to address domestic and gender-based violence.

Preferred Skills:

  • You have experience providing direct services to survivors of human trafficking, sexual violence,

or family violence.

  • You have strong analytical and information-gathering skills.
  • You are self-motivated and -directed, with an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • You have the ability to communicate complex information clearly and succinctly in writing and
speaking.
  • You have demonstrated leadership and/or management experience in collaborative settings.
  • You are an effective self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a

diverse team environment with all levels of supervisory and frontline staff.

  • You have a strong interest in working in the field of gender-based violence and/or a
commitment to public service.


Salary

The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive

salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role

is $140,000-$150,000.

factors.
