About the Consulate
The Consulate General of Israel to the Southwest covers a 5-state region including Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. The Consulate’s mission is to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Israel and the Southwest U.S. region in the political, economic, academic, cultural, interfaith, and media realms.
This is a full-time position and is located in Houston, Texas with no opportunity to work from home. All candidates must go through a security clearance process and three rounds of interviews.
Role Responsibilities:
· Serves as the official liaison between the Consulate and the various organizations executing the goals established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
· The position’s focus areas include, but not limited to:
o Economic
o Public Diplomacy
o Local Government
· Plans, coordinates, and cooperates to develop an outreach strategy to significantly expand and develop new and on-going relationships and collaborations with various regions in the Southwest region. The goal is to expand relationships with stakeholders in the public and economic sectors between Israel and the Southwest region.
· Researches and Identifies key leaders and institutions in the region in order to develop a plan for outreach
· Coordinate with internal and external partners and participates in planning of programs and objectives
· Preferred candidate should have some knowledge on local governments, economic trends, and policy.
· Has economic understanding to draft economic analysis of current and future trends in the Southwest region.
· Willingness to attend conference and networking events locally.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Middle Eastern Studies, Political Science, Public Policy, International Studies, Business, or related field
· Preferred 2-3 years of experience in a role that required organizational and project management skills (Data entry, mailings, invitation design, event planning, and project execution.)
· Must be able to work independently and proactively under pressure, while being a team player
· Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to network outside of work
· Executes excellent time management skills; must be able to multitask under time constraints in order to meet deadlines
· Strong writing skills to draft talking points, speeches, presentations, and reports
· Willingness to travel within the Southwestern region
