Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Manager for Trade Policy to join the Hyundai Motor Group Government Affairs team in Washington, D.C. The Senior Manager will advance the Government Affairs function for Hyundai Motor Group (“the Group”), by shaping and implementing the trade-related government relations strategy of the Group. This position involves engaging with policymakers, advocating for the company's interests, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of experience in government affairs, strong leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex legislative environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay abreast of global trade dynamics and policy trends, providing insights into their implications for the Group.
  • Monitor international trade agreements and developments to assess their impact on our operations.
  • Attend relevant policy seminars, conferences, and government briefings, focusing on trade policy.
  • Distill complex information into concise and actionable memos/papers for headquarters, emphasizing the trade and policy landscape.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key government officials globally, with a specific focus on trade and policy decision-makers.
  • Develop a network of contacts within global government circles to enhance the company's understanding of international regulatory environments.
  • Collaborate with international teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment with global government affairs initiatives, particularly in trade-related matters.
  • Provide guidance on potential impacts of global trade policies on the company's operations.
  • Use advanced knowledge to effectively communicate insights on global trade and policy trends to senior leadership, contributing to informed decision-making.
  • Exercise independent judgment to proactively identify and address emerging global issues related to trade and policies that may affect the company's regulatory landscape.
  • Develop crisis management strategies for potential challenges arising from global trade and policy developments.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, or a related field is preferred.
  • Master’s degree a plus.
  • Eight or more years of experience working in global government affairs, with a specific focus on trade and policy matters.
  • Proven ability to analyze global trade dynamics and policy trends, providing strategic insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into concise memos/papers.
  • Strong network of contacts within global government circles, especially those involved in trade and policy decision-making.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to collaborate effectively across international teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments, particularly in the context of global trade and policy developments.
  • Strong understanding of geopolitics and connection to the US State Department, U.S. Trade Representative Office, Department of Commerce, and Defense.


Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office duties
  • Travel required
