About Us:

Life Tree Pharmacy is a for profit subsidiary of Merakey and works with a wide range of facilities and programs to support individuals in the Behavioral Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disability communities.

About the Role:

This Director serves as the primary subject matter expert for all pharmacy compliance related matters within Life Tree. The Director will have direct access to the Life Tree Board in order to provide any necessary information related to compliance. The Director ensures the development of staff and the implementation of systems to effectively manage the organizational pharmacy compliance, incident reporting, notification, investigation, and crisis response activities across the organization. Working closely with senior leadership, the Director leads the effort to identify risk, preventative and mitigation strategies, and response plans to protect the well-being of the company as well as the health and safety of employees and consumers, at both the micro and macro levels. The Director stays current on legislation related to pharmacy practice in active states(and federal) and advises leadership to impact both strategic and tactical business decisions.

General Responsibilities:

This individual will be a subject matter expert with pharmacy compliance and also have experience working in a support desk environment. Some of the responsibilities will include:

  • Senior level support for all pharmacy operations(compliance and legislatively focused)
  • Training and support for all pharmacy compliance systems
  • Report on overall compliance, pharmacy audits(internal/external) and identify areas of opportunity, trends, quality improvement needs
  • Manage the vendor/customer relationships related to software/hardware utilized within the continuum(compliance focused)
  • Be the primary contact for organizational leadership related to compliance services, support, strategy, and execution
  • Design, build, train, and execute pharmacy ops audits for all pharmacy locations, along with oversee any corrective action necessary
  • Be prepared/capable of hiring, managing, delegating compliance, legislative affairs, and related support activities as department grows
  • Ability to work in a highly time sensitive and deadline-oriented Pharmacy operation(compliance/legislative affairs focus)
  • Travel to company pharmacies as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • 5 years' experience working with pharmacy systems
  • 5+ years' experience working with closed door pharmacy operations
  • 5 years implementing and analyzing systems within closed door pharmacy operations
  • 5+ years as a licensed pharmacist
  • 5+ managing DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, CMS regulations and ensuring compliance within multiple closed door pharmacy operations
  • 5+ years handling PBM / third party pharmacy audits
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and ensure systems checks are implemented and followed

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with compliance programming within closed door pharmacy industry
  • Experience with legislative process, analysis, lobbying and impact on pharmacy operations
  • Strategic function related to health care industry trends related to compliance and legislative technology requirements
  • General awareness of behavioral health, IDD, and LTC state/federal guidelines, in particular related to medication management, coverage, and compliance
