Field Staff Intern

Virginia / U.S. Senate Campaign

Job Description: 

Our campaign is seeking hard-working, bright individuals to work in our Field Operations Department. Campaign interns will provide critical campaign support while being exposed to all specialties in a statewide campaign for Federal office: you will spend time on the phone or in person with the candidate, the general consultant, the campaign manager, and the communications staff, as well as gain experience handling events, outreach, and other functions. You will gain first-hand experience and exposure to federal politics and campaign best practices which can be applied to campaigns of any scale. 

**Note** Applicants do not need to live in Virginia in order to apply for this position.

Field Interns Will: 

  • Conduct field operations, including direct voter contact and polling
  • Be trained by seasoned campaign operatives in campaigning best practices
  • Learn the inner workings of a statewide campaign
  • Participate in weekly conference calls to discuss progress and game-planning
  • Recruit additional volunteers (as available)
  • Limited data entry or other tasks as assigned by staff (as available)
  • Attend and “staff” events in state (as available)
  • Socialize with other politically-minded student-interns around the country
  • Upon completion of the course, have the opportunity to take a class taught by a seasoned campaign operative that has led campaigns ranging from State Delegate to Gubernatorial 


Commitment

You can expect to spend 10 hours/week on campaign work.

Successful completion of internship will result in a letter of recommendation for future political work and consideration for promotion to paid staff after the primary election.
