Who We Are
Oregon Food Bank’s (OFB) mission is to eliminate hunger and its root causes. We believe that no one should be hungry — that food and health are basic human rights for all. And we know that hunger is not just an individual experience; it is also a community-wide symptom of barriers to employment, education, housing and health care. That’s why we work on two fronts in our mission to end hunger in Oregon: we build community connections to help people access nutritious, affordable food today, and we build community power to eliminate the root causes of hunger for good.
Oregon Food Bank believes strongly in the power of lived experience — and we actively seek individuals who have experienced hunger and its root causes to join our team. Our organization is stronger because of the leadership of people who have faced food insecurity in their own lives and/or hail from historically under-represented communities. Who You Are
You are an experienced data strategy and constituent relations management (CRM) professional who cares deeply about people in our community who are experiencing food insecurity. You bring the spirit of curiosity and problem solving to your work, and are excited to innovate. You are committed to apply equity as both a process and an outcome, with an interest in disrupting systems that drive hunger — including racism, sexism and cissexism. You have a strong affinity with OFB’s 10 Year Vision and are profoundly excited to achieve a future where communities never know hunger.
Position Summary
The EveryAction Manager & Data Strategist plays an important role in setting a shared data strategy across Oregon Food Bank departments and workstreams — combining information derived from donor, volunteer, activist and client interactions to deepen relationships and support ladders of engagement. Working closely with department data leads, you will build out collective planning processes, develop shared infrastructure, and guide new bodies of work.
This role brings both long-standing best practices and new innovations to bear in managing the organization’s shared constituent relationship management platform, EveryAction (NGP/VAN), including key vendor relationships. Through a combination of strategic planning, training and support in implementation, you will bring a user-centered approach that maintains data integrity and maximizes impact across Oregon Food Bank initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
- Lead cross-department strategic planning processes to identify opportunities, set data acquisition and collection standards, and strengthen data infrastructure and integrity
- Manage relationships with and serve as the primary liaison to vendor account managers, including EveryAction, Catalist, Mobilize and Hustle.
- Collaborate with data managers at State Voices and Oregon Voice to ensure effective implementation and data integrity with shared datasets, tools and platforms.
- Work with data strategists in philanthropy, organizing and programs teams to establish and integrate data best practices into every applicable aspect of constituent engagement efforts.
- Support cross-department digital teams in creating effective ladders of engagement across website, email, digital, SMS and social media channels
- Support staff and partners in the development of targeting, field organizing and voter contact plans and make strategic recommendations on how best to use data effectively.
Data and CRM Management
- Lead the procurement and incorporation of supporter, voter file, and other demographic and consumer data to inform engagement strategies.
- Serve as the primary administrator of OFB’s shared constituent relationship management platform, EveryAction (NGP/VAN) — including management of users and committees, oversight of security settings and monitoring use to ensure compliance with organizational policies.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for the collection, upload and reporting on new datasets.
- Update project plans and develop reporting and communication schedules related to project status and deliverables.
- Support higher-level support requests such as mass imports and exports, matching initiatives, and integrations via APIs and other vendor agreements.
- Work with data and analytics teams to optimize campaign performance through digital metrics, A/B test results and other key performance indicators.
Organizational Support
- Develop support structures to ensure data-driven approaches and effective implementation of constituent engagement tools into organizing and voter outreach work.
- Provide technical assistance with the use of EveryAction and related technologies — including Mobilize, Hustle and Virtual Phone Banks.
- Lead the development and implementation of training curriculum to support data integrity and maximize impact.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience of the Ideal Candidate
- Five (5) to 10 years of experience in data-focused roles across fast-paced settings — including advocacy organizations, political campaigns, creative agencies, legislative and/or non-profit environments.
- Additional education may be substituted for work experience.
- Administrator-level expertise in management of EveryAction / NGP-VAN — our core integrated constituent relationship management and digital engagement platform.
- Demonstrated excellence in training and support of data management, database administration, reporting and analysis, and common digital organizing tools.
- Track record of successful integration or migration of large-scale platforms, such as Raiser's Edge / Blackbaud NXT, Salsa Labs or Salesforce.
- Strong understanding of common voter, demographic, and consumer datasets — and capacity to make strategic recommendations around cross-department data enhancements.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to translate technical instructions into easy-to-follow communications for non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing positive relationships with vendors and partners.
Preferred Qualifications
